The story "Magindanao Pearls" starts with a a 16 year old basket weaver and the daughter of Pirang Kawayan. When integrated into the ensemble it functions as a secondary melodic instrument after the main melodic instrument the kulintang. Maguindanao Pearls is a Philippine folktale that was written by Isidro L. Reztizos. The tale has been passed from generation to generation. Basket weaving is one of humankind's oldest art formsand it is certainly an ethnic and cultural icon filled with myth, religion and symbolism. Some baskets are manufactured by machines, however part of the tradition is that baskets are defined as receptacles that are woven by hand of vegetable fibers. Although baskets may have distinct bottoms and tops, they are essentially continuous surfaces. The craft of basketry gave rise to pottery making because baskets were used as molds for some of the earliest pots. Basket weaving was but still a sacred tradition and one of absolute necessity. In my opinion, pearls are made by marine oysters as a defence for them so that there's no parasite entering their shell or will damage their fragile body. Pearls can be so unique largely to the fact that they are the only gem material formed and found within a living creature. A cultured pearl is a pearl initiated by a mussel or oyster farmer under controlled conditions using two very different groups of bivalve mollusks and is considered as real pearls.
The lakan was democratically selected by other ruling datus from among themselves to serve as their "pangulo" Writers such as William Henry Scott have suggested that this rank is equivalent to that of Rajah, and that different ethnic groups either used one term or the other, or used the two words interchangeably. The Lakambini Committee is one of the committees under the Sandigan, the culture-building arm of the ASHS Sanggunian. Lakambini also promotes gender quality and female empowerment, the committee has made available various platforms for the student population to share their experiences and concerns related to gender inequality, and provide encouragement and support for one another. The history of Lakambini was that she was an filipino author, journalist and a teacher. She wrote tons of novels and that one novel that was published is called "Sweet Haven" As a journalist, Sitoy was a lifestyle and cultural section editor for various papers, and was a columnist and section editor for the Manila Times. She has also received nine prizes in the annual Don Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards in the Philippines.
I realized that pearls aren’t that important to show everyone that you’re beautiful. In this world, physical appearance doesn’t matter, but attitude does. The story also states how powerful love is to one person. Sometimes, we got carried away with emotions and because of that, we create mistakes. It's okay to have mistakes and as they say, “Love conquers all." But love could also be a threat to other people, just like what Lakambini did to Sinag-Tala. If it's true love and devotion for one another it takes both to make a relationship work and both knowing that no matter what they will work together and honor one another. We can say that love is indeed a beautiful thing. Just like when she saw the pearls’ of Lakabini, her eyes glowed with wonder, and her lips slightly paled with desire.
